Sotomayor Senior Homes

This 14-story, 127-unit senior housing facility will create a new landmark and focal point for the residents of Sotomayor Senior Homes, both visually and programmatically.

At street level, one enters the building beneath a green-roofed entry canopy which clearly marks the entrance of the residences and senior community center alike.  The internal circulation leads one through the main lobby to indoor and outdoor community facilities and residential floors above. The community facility space is accessible to the Sotomayor campus residents via separate streets and side entrances.

At the rear, the senior community center opens up to a garden and picnic space surrounded by shrubbery, which contains a trellis, seating areas and tables, meandering pathway, outdoor aerobics equipment, and park benches.  Beyond that is a vegetable garden where residents and members of the community may grow their own food.
