Xi Shui Dong Master Plan by
Alexander Gorlin Architects

We designed two buildings for a riverfront retail development in Wuxi, China. The size and column grid of the buildings was established in order to accommodate underground parking.

Both buildings are characterized by floating volumes defined by screens inspired by traditional Chinese lattice patterns. These metal screens are set off the translucent glass fa├žade on the second level so that at night the entire store glows from within like a lantern. LED lights on the second level behind the screen allow the facades to change color.
